If you aren't happy with your current kitchen, then you might be thinking about remodeling the room. There are actually three common ways to do this job. You can take on a cosmetic, remove-and-reinstall, or custom renovation. Read on to learn more about these three options.

What Is a Cosmetic Kitchen Renovation?

A cosmetic renovation is the most basic way to improve a kitchen. During this process, you simply make some changes to some parts of your kitchen while leaving its core infrastructure in place.

For example, you might paint the walls in your kitchen. You might upgrade your cabinets by painting them and replacing their hardware. You might buy new countertops, change your faucets, add a backsplash, and put in some new appliances.

A cosmetic renovation is the cheapest and fastest way to refresh your kitchen. Your kitchen design won't change, but you can make parts of the room look different.

What Is a Remove-and-Reinstall Kitchen Renovation?

During a remove-and-reinstall renovation, you upgrade your kitchen without changing its layout. You remove some items and then install new ones in exactly the same places.

So, for example, you might take out all your kitchen cabinets and appliances. You then install new ones in the same spaces. After the renovation, your kitchen will look like new; however, you won't have made any changes to its layout.

A remove-and-reinstall remodel takes longer than a cosmetic renovation. Your costs will also be higher. You have to pay to have items stripped out of your kitchen, buy new replacements, and then have them installed.

However, this option gives you the chance to completely restyle your kitchen. You can also modernize it in the process.

What Is a Custom Kitchen Renovation?

When you have a custom kitchen remodel, you usually change the entire room and its layout. You make changes to the space and build a new kitchen that works better for you.

During this process, you remove your current kitchen entirely. You might remodel its space by knocking down walls and putting up new ones. You might bring together your kitchen and dining room and turn the combined space into a large kitchen/diner.

You might decide to relocate parts of your kitchen during your renovation. So, you might move your sink, stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator to new locations. You might make room for larger appliances, extra seating, and an island. You then install new cabinets, appliances, and countertops to fit your new layout.

Custom kitchen renovations take more time. You usually have to factor in some structural work or infrastructural moves. This is the most expensive type of renovation; however, it does give you the kitchen of your dreams.

About Me
More Than Concrete

Concrete has been an incredibly popular construction material for centuries, and maybe even millennia. The ancient Romans even used a form of concrete to make dams and aqueducts! When we learned this fact, we just had to share it. In fact, that happens a lot when we learn new construction facts and information. That's why we created this blog — so we have a convenient place to share! Since the construction and contracting industry is so vast, we come across new material all of the time. Some of it is about specific types of construction, and other facts are more generalized. But we share it all!
